Dear Soul Friends,

A light frost settled in over the meadow last night coating the brown and amber grasses with an icy white shimmer. Brilliant red berries on a winterberry bush glimmer in morning sun adding color to the land as a pair of blue jays flit about seeking nourishment while bickering with each other. Morning has broken. The earth is alive with Autumn beauty.

Autumn is a particularly interesting time for soul work. As leaves change color and begin to drop, they remind us of the spiritual practice of letting go and opening ourselves to the movement and guidance of Holy Presence. It is a time for stillness and waiting. Just as the trees release their leaves and allow their roots to settle in for winter, knowing that all they need is hidden under the earth, we are invited to let go of our worries, anxieties, and expectations and wait for inner soul wisdom to show us the way.

Celtic Scholar and Wisdom Teacher John Philip Newell teaches us to let go into the glow flow of God. When we let go and release our burdens and open ourselves to the sacred space of soul flow, new insight and understanding arise. It is life-giving to experiment with the spiritual practice of letting go. The next time you need to make an important decision ask Holy Presence to guide you. Let go of needing to know the answer. Wait. Listen. At some point soul wisdom will offer an answer. Trust it. Follow its truth. The way forward will unfold.

Last fall when my husband and I were visiting family in North Carolina, we went out for an afternoon walk. Just as we were turning a corner, we passed a house with two massive Ginko trees that had been covered in leaves the day before. Overnight every leaf had dropped blanketing the land with yellow splendor. Gazing at the gift of the Ginko trees, I was reminded that each year the Ginko trees know exactly the right moment to let go of what is no longer needed in order to make room for new growth and renewal. It is their rhythm of life and we can learn from it. Let go. Release. Begin again. Allow it to be your soul practice for this time of year.

As you travel through your week, may the wisdom of Autumn’s glory bless you with insight and understanding and may you know that you are encircled and encompassed in Holy Light and Love.

Deep peace to you,

Susan
