Soul Wonder
Baby Loon—photo by Susan Izard
Dear Soul Friends,
Each morning during our vacation, my husband and I carry a cup of coffee down to the lake to soak in the early morning quiet. Today a baby loon swam by the dock. It is old enough to have some independence and will learn to fly in about a month. It was a treat to have it swim so close to the dock.
The other day while canoeing, we paddled by seven adult loons and were serenaded by their haunting calls. Listening to loons is one of the great invitations to contemplation. The sound reverberates within us, calling us to deep listening. A few years ago, I wrote this haiku.
the loon calls us home
echoing eternity
resting in wonder
As you go through your week, may you rest in the wonder of eternity and know that you are held by the light and love of the Great Creator.
Deep peace to you,
Susan
